SERPENTWITHFEET: HEART OF BRICK

Josiah Wise explores radical tenderness under his alias serpentwithfeet: With a background in R&B and classical music, the 34-year-old from Los Angeles expresses desire and lust so enchantingly gentle in his songs that he has become one of the most exciting experimental R&B voices.

Now, he is developing his first stage work with the award-winning visual artist Wu Tsang, who expresses queer identity in films and is also the house director at the Schauspielhaus Zurich. Also joining them is Raja Feather Kelly, who made his debut at the summer festival last year and is one of the most exciting New York choreographers, known for both Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway works and his own experimental dance pieces; as well as Bob Wilson- and Solange-designer Carlos Soto and poet Donte Collins.

Together with seven dancers, the team weaves surreal and filmic elements into a story about a Black gay nightclub, intimacy, and community. Here unfolds the utopian potential of a safe space and an intensely tender love story between the club owner Brick and serpentwithfeet. serpentwithfeet himself takes the stage with songs from his new album "Grip."

Event starts at: 8:00 p.m.
Doors open at: 7:00 p.m.
