JORGE DREXLER - EUROPEAN TOUR 2024
On May 27, 2024, Uruguayan singer-songwriter Jorge Drexler will perform live at Berlin's breathtaking Theater des Westens.
As one of Latin America's best-known musicians, he has already released 14 studio albums in his 30-year career and even won an Oscar in 2005. He has also won 13 Latin Grammys, seven of them for his album "Tinta y Tiempo", released in 2022, as well as many other awards.
Born in Montevideo to a German-Jewish father who narrowly escaped the Holocaust, Drexler was a busy doctor before deciding to become a full-time singer and moving to Madrid in 1995. His unique style - the softness of his voice, coupled with a flair for beautiful melodies and lyrics of unusual depth - won him many fans with albums such as Sea (2001) and Eco (2004). "Al Otro Lado Del Río", a song he wrote for the film The Motorcycle Diaries, won an Academy Award in 2005. On subsequent albums, Drexler expanded his eclectic palette and collaborated with such transcendent artists as Caetano Veloso, Natalia Lafourcade and Mercedes Sosa.
