THE NEW BLACK
The New Black. Celebration of Music, Literature & Culture is a new cultural event that will take place on April 6th, 2024, at Theater des Westens in Berlin!
This festival brings people together from all walks of life to celebrate the creativity and innovation of the Black community.
It's a chance for everyone to embrace diversity and toast the achievements of Black culture.
We are looking forward to:

Literature: Featuring interviews and readings by acclaimed authors Alice Hasters and Melanie Raabe.
Panel discussion: "Black Leadership in Germany's Cultural Institutions", with esteemed guests such as Yolanda Kaddu-Mulindwa (Galerieleitung Neukölln), Dr. Yvette Mutumba (Contemporary And), Julia Wissert (Schauspiel Dortmund), Keith Bernard Stonum (Staatsoper Stuttgart/Junge Oper im Nord) and Dr. Dr. Daniele G. Daude (Dramaturgy & Science).
Fashion Panel: "Black Creativity in Fashion: How Can We Empower Black-Owned Brands?" with Stella Jean (founder of Stella Jean), Janek Bonasewicz (The Tracksuit Club), Philip Appah (Black Aspiring Creators), Fatima Njoya (fashion journalist) and Helene Mathelemuse (Zalando). Co-curated by ADAN Impact, with the support of Zalando.
Celebratory panel discussion on the first anniversary of the project for cohesion and against discrimination "People of Deutschland" with Thelma Buabeng, Milka Loff Fernandes, Jalil and Simon Usifo.
The festival will be moderated by Anna Dushime, providing a guiding voice for the diverse array of talent and perspectives and special keynote address by Prof. Dr. Natasha A. Kelly.
Join us on this transformative journey towards embracing and amplifying the voices and contributions of the Black community in Germany.

Is the festival only for BiPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) or can white people also attend?
Every person is expressly welcome.
Do I have to be there from the beginning to the end?
No, entry is possible at any time between 12 and 22h
Is there re-entry, can you leave and come back later?
Yes, you can come and go as you please throughout the day.
Can you also buy tickets on-site?
Yes, that will be possible, but you would do us a favor by purchasing your ticket in advance.
Can you pay with cash on-site?
We would prefer to collect your ticket payment by card, but cash is also accepted at the bars.
Are you allowed to bring food and drinks with you?
No, there are bars inside the venue where you can find some snacks. However, you can also leave the theater at any time and return later.
There are many restaurants, convenience stores, and bars on Kantstrasse and around Zoo Station.
